let's not get carried away. part of playing live limit hold em is playing against many opponents against whom you can easily laydown tptk in 100 bb pots if you have to.

No it isn't.

Checking the flop is fine too.

Your hand reading needs a little tweaking. Joe doesn't have 44 like ever. Weak tight worry that you are beat is fine and when I call I won't be too suprised to see AA but folding is insane.

So he has only posted 68 times. So what? He already has the wisdom to realize that being a big lay down artist on the river is negative ev. That puts him miles ahead of most more experienced posters around here.

weak self taught players just auto pay off with tptk on the river regardless of the player they are against or the board texture. the best players, players who beat the game for a lot over years of play, correctly lay hands down all the time based on the above reasons and others (tells for one). every once in awhile we get one wrong but it is, in the long run, way +EV.

a lot of live mid limit hold em is about knowing your opponent. and even the most mediocre +.5 bb/hr players i play with know that against certain guys top pair is never any good once raised on the turn or river.

Sorry, I should have explained a little better:

No, it isn't. That's ridiculous.

There was 1 limper, I raised, and it ended up 7 players to the flop for 3-bets. So the pot was 1.5 bets bigger preflop then you have in your OP.

For the record, I knew exactly who you were and I thought for sure you knew who I was when you made that quick table change and then when I "re-changed" I figured you'd know that I knew who you were. Is that 3rd level 2p2 seat-position play?!

For the record, I was AMAZED you folded as I'd have AK enough at ~17:1.

Great to finally talk to talk to you and hang out a bit,
Joe

Whoops, I am tired and my hand reading needs tweaking too, since AA is unlikely based on preflop. I need to wake up. Oh well, it is off to Oceans. Free money, come and get it.

This looks like you should really call. I don't know Joe Tall or his tendencies, but I think the only hand you would lose to here is some type of 9 or maybe even A9.
