Re: Simple preflop decision
Yes, it would be Bung. Without reads you can't give villain a small enough range to make a fold here correct.

Re: Simple preflop decision
Fair enough. I was thinking about it backwards. My assumption was that (maybe) we can't put villain on a large enough range to make calling/raising correct....

Re: Simple preflop decision
I'd call but that is kinda my style in SHLHE games. I do a ton of opening but rarely re-raise w/o any reads. A lot of the re-raises that I make aren't so much dictated by the cards as much as they are by the players, position, image, etc.
Esp with off-suit cards, I find that it is +EV to play w/o the lead. If you re-raise PF you know what is gonna happen. Bet the flop, bet the turn, oh [censored] he raised now what do I do (with a gutshot or something). When you call PF you can just get away when you don't make a pair. Yeah you can get away when you RRPF but it is odd to RR and then check/fold the flop. You are going to get into a lot of bad spots (or start c/r'ing flops) if people figure out exactly what you are doing. And if you make a pair you play it strong (just like you RRPF). The difference is that you have under repped your hand so have more leverage when you goto war. Your EV is basically going to be the same after the flop and while you might lose a little bit PF you really save $$$ by not semi-bluffing street after street when you miss. |

Re: Simple preflop decision
I think calling is a better default play. I'm much more likely to 3-bet against two players, and I'll basically always 3-bet on open-raiser.

Re: Simple preflop decision
i would say call is correct. My bigger issue is post flop play. C/r when/if you miss the flop? What other play do you have?
(Struggle a bit playing out of position when you whif the board) |

Re: Simple preflop decision
calls. 10:1 with medium-strong overs and a decent BDFD is plenty for me.
