Re: conquering your fears - why do people do this
You have to kidding me OP. I remember when I used to be so scared to walk up and talk to girls. Then whenever I would, regardless if I got shot down it felt an incredible rush. Honestly, I wish I was scared to talk to girls just so I could feel that rush again.
Doing things that are scary like sky diving and roller coasters are a rush because they are scary. Simple as that. |

Re: conquering your fears - why do people do this
[ QUOTE ]
i thought the point was he overcame the fear by getting out there and doing it, and after he does so he realizes that it was dumb to fear the thing, thus not fearing the thing anymore. even if it doesn't work that way, it's a challenge to overcome. how isn't that something to celebrate? [/ QUOTE ] Exactly. Also, a lot of peoples fears interfere with their everyday life. By conquering them they drastically improve their quality of life. |

Re: conquering your fears - why do people do this
For the same reasons people skydive and watch horror movies I guess, it's a rush. Plus if you can legitimately get over a phobia (which people can do) that's a big help in your everyday life.

A better question:
Why do TV producers insist on trying to make TV shows out of this, futhermore who are the people stupid enough to watch? |
