94.1 JJO in Madison used to be the best rock station I had ever heard. But it's been downhill lately.

Brisbane 4ZZZ Australia's first community radio station, obviously plays some real crap, but has plenty of good local stuff also.

Minneapolis, hands down, has one of the best radio stations I've heard. It's one of the best in the nation, and they stream. Check out Drive 105. If you're into alternative, and indie music, you'll like this station.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes. I feel cool when I recognize a band the indie kids are talking about because I've heard them on 105.

Possibly the dumbest question ever, but what the hell. How does one "get into" indie music? Obviously listen to the radio, but I don't hang out with people who are into the indie scene, so I am not exposed to it. I have also checked out some sites, but they usually just turn out to be friends of the band telling everyone how great band xyz is. I'm sure there are a lot of great bands, but there is so much crap to go through that I never get to them.

CFOX, 99.3 in Vancouver. Plays just my type of music.

If anyone is in Vancouver, they might remember 104.9 XFM. Just like the Fox, but with funnier hosts. They got shut down for trying to hold some contest that involved something naughty.

my local stations are the reason I got satellite radio

[/ QUOTE ]

QFT.

100% of the people I know who have satellite radio, say they will never go back to "free" radio. Repeat, 100%.

I just don't understand why anyone who listens to the radio would not have it. I can only imagine that they don't know how awesome it is, or that they think it's expensive (even though they pay 5x-10x as much for cable or satellite tv).

Again, 100%. The next time someone tells me they don't absolutely love it, will be the first time.

God, no. This show is horrible, although many boys ages 12-16 probably think it is hilarious.
