Largest coke bust in US history

I remember seeing an interview with a DEA officer after they had busted a series of coke producing factories in some South American country. I believe they destroyed several hundred tons of cocaine. They were very excited because they thought there would be a huge effect on the quantity and/or quality of street drugs - after many months, they said they didn't notice any affect whatsoever in the quantity and quality of street coke.

I seriously doubt that this will have any effect on the prices of blow. There might be a short price increase, but the market (as always) will balance itself back out.

I remember reading somewhere that the US gov only stops 1% of all drugs from entering the US.

This is just because it's so easy to grow. As they kill it in Colombia, it gets grown in Bolivia and Peru.

Agreed. What does the DEA's budget a year? Think about how much money is spent just to try and stop drugs from entering the US. And yet only 1% is stopped.
