Me too and I'd never even think of c/r that river against an unknown - in fact I hate it so much I seriously wonder if I'm missing something and have gotten stuck in may ways.

That's a horrible reason. That's like saying to overbet a pot so you can have better odds for a flushdraw on a flop when he pushes.
