Playing junky hands like 96 depends on a lot more than most of you seem to realize. Implied odds, pot odds, stack sizes, type of opponent, your image, etc etc etc etc etc.

None of that info is posted so leave the analysis for the proper forums plz.

[/ QUOTE ]It doesn't matter what you have if you can make your opponent fold before showdown, which OP did.

There are plenty of legitimate times to play 96s, so you cannot say "fold pf" without knowing the context of the situation.

As a rule, don't quote idiots. That way, when they get their posts deleted, the idiocy doesn't remain behind...

You said you know him pretty well, implying that you play together fairly frequently. You realize that by making this play to win this pot, you have cost yourself future ev? He was willing to show you his hand every time he sucked out on you, so you can fold and save yourself a river bet. Now he will expect you to be playing cut-throat poker for a $30 pot. I expect he will no longer be willing to show you his hand and check the river after sucking out on you.

Plus you are playing a "friendly" home game. Why kill the mood by trying to make semi-angle-shots at your friends.

Assuming this is a cash game there is nothing wrong with talking about your hand and/or showing your cards if it's just the two of you in the pot.

As for your outright lie, (call it BS if you like), rather harsh for a home game IMO. But you didn't call it a "Friendly" home game

As for him folding to your lie. Just plain ridiculous
