Playing junky hands like 96 depends on a lot more than most of you seem to realize. Implied odds, pot odds, stack sizes, type of opponent, your image, etc etc etc etc etc.

There are plenty of legitimate times to play 96s, so you cannot say "fold pf" without knowing the context of the situation.

He was willing to show you his hand every time he sucked out on you, so you can fold and save yourself a river bet. Now he will expect you to be playing cut-throat poker for a $30 pot. Assuming this is a cash game there is nothing wrong with talking about your hand and/or showing your cards if it's just the two of you in the pot.
