I am not saying that, as a matter of fact, I like TI because it is CLEAN. My question mostly pertained to the small, dirty rooms that obviously don't care to pump any money back into them to keep them nice.

I do agree that there are too many options and if people stopped going to the dumpy ones, they would be forced to close, leaving less rooms and creating larger game selection in each room. Isn't that what we all want? To go to a poker room and have tons of games to choose from?

Excellent! This is what, for all poker players? Buffet near the poker room?

Don't get too excited. It's a piece of meat and a biscuit. Not a gourmet experience, by any means. They no longer serve even a bit of wilted lettuce and frozen tomato with it.

I like the strip better for poker, but I prefer downtown in general over the strip.

I am in my late 30's and like to wear jeans and a t-shirt when I am on vacation. I am married and am not looking to get laid or party in the cool clubs. I also like to be able to play at a $5 BJ table with decent rules and have the floor actually appreciate my action. Downtown just suits me better in general. I suppose if I was a "baller" 25 year old, then I might think that the strip was more Rocks and Rings, but I is what I is.

The only reason I like the strip is the availability of live NL, which is very rare in my area.

Ditto.. except the live NL. there's plenty here. I actually don't play much poker in vegas. I play blackjack with my wife. Usually 1 poker tourney a day and between binions/golden nugget/Plaza, I can always find something good.

I can come up with a ton of other reasons:

1. Don't have to walk as far.
2. People watching.
3. I've always felt safe.
4. Binions cafe.
5. Easy comps.
6. Main Street Buffet still rocks and it's like $15.

I love downtown. I play the majority of my poker downtown when I'm in Vegas. This may be me, but I find the games more interesting downtown. The people that come and go are always most interesting. I play mostly at Binion's and the Nugget. I will venture out to the strip to play a few tournaments and to see the sites.

My room is always at Fremont (nice breakfast buffet for the price) and it's not far from one of my favorite resturants at The Four Queens (Hugo's Cellar).

I have no complaints about downtown, it's too convenient for me and my wife to give up.

Good Luck!

I played the Golden Nugget NL last night and had a great experience. There were a bunch of $1-2 NL's going as well as some late night tournaments.

The cocktail girls were young, hot, and fast with the drinks.

Nothing depressing about the room at all. It was fun, fast and full of Vegas Joy. Very clean room as well.

I'll play the Strip tonight (played GVR Thursday night) but I think Downtown can be a fun night out sometimes.

Best Wishes

Howard
