I'd rather be told when the domain I don't use anymore is about to cost me money so I can decide if I want to use it. An email every quarter or year isn't a burden. If auto renewel wasn't partly a scam porn wouldn't use it. Um, so I've heard.

HostGator and Bluehost are very very good (and cheap). I started out with some other host, but realized that they were really compared to my current solution (hostgator).


Edit: I use namecheap for registering new domains (google for coupons) . Its best to use a separate company to buy your domain, incase you decide to change hosts.

I would recommend either GoDaddy or namecheap.

I prefer BlueHost to Gator, but I have had good success with both hosting companies. BlueHost packages are cheap, GoDaddy claims to be able to handle more traffic (not sure if I buy this).
