I'm not sure you're going those ways but the Basque Country (South-West of France, Atlantic side around Biarritz) is amazing. Amazing outdoors inland and beaches, great culture, amazing food, best waves in Europe if you're into surfing.

Otherwise, Nice + Cannes + Antibes are real nice as well. Good food. Only problem is that the ratio between tourists and locals is probably 1:1.
