Don't put garlic salt in your potatoes. Not because of any breath issues, but because it's lame. Roast a whole head of garlic and squeeze in 2 cloves per 1 large potato. Add losts of butter and salt and pepper to taste. Or, you could roast diced red potatoes seasoned with fresh rosemary, olive oil, pepper, and kosher salt. I wouldn't make her cheese-stuffed chicken breast. Make a simpler chicken dish. Just seasoning it with salt, pepper, and thyme would probably be fine. Steamed green beans is fine. Make a salad also. Put some dried cherries and walnuts in it. Chicks dig dried cherries and walnuts in salads. Make sure you have some sort of girly vinegerette on hand.

If you don't know how to cook a steak, that's just too bad.

Grilling the perfect steak is an art, and far from "ridiculously easy", especially if she likes her's done differently than his. Based on OP's current menu, he doesn't seem to have the experience necessary to impress a date with a grilled steak -- imho.

Your salmon recipe sounds excellent, and much less susceptible to a menu catastrophe.

hahaha...grilling a steak is not hard. get real.

Thanks for the ideas. I'm not really much of a chef, but I get by with making edible meals with my meek level of knowledge. I like the sound of the red potatoes, but I think the olive oil could potentially give me the [censored], and that wouldn't be impressive. Good idea with the dried cherries and walnuts...and I think I already have a vinegarette because I'm girly like that.

As for the comments about cooking steak, I've never done steak before, and I could see myself messing it up. I'll probably stick to chicken or perhaps try that salmon idea.

For some reason, I'm picturing the massacre of what you call a "grilled steak" and trembling with disdain and disgust.

I don't know where you're from, but here in the Midwest, we take our steaks very, very seriously.

Im from St. Louis, and I make perfect steaks. It takes about 3 minutes to figure out what temp to get the grill at, figure out how you want it cooked, and how thick the steak is, and too cook it the appropriate amount of time. If you cant figure that stuff out, put the steak on teh grill, cook, flip once, than finish cooking, god have mercy on your below average IQ.

Highly likely. But don't deny yourself God's greatest culinary gift to mankind. Grill them up for yourself, and learn. You'll never regret it.

I'd replace the chicken with a steak, and green beans with green bean casserole and I think you have a plan.

FYP. With all due respect guids, you're a steak n00b (or you've done it a hundred times and forgotten). If you think it's easy, and takes no effort, your steaks probably suck ass. Let me guess, you use a gas grill, too, right?
