This has been covered many times in the past.
All I remember is that some sites have continuous shuffle and some have a set shuffle.

When a real deck of shuffled cards are dealt, to players at the table, the order of the cards in the deck obviously do not change. Therefore, the cards dealt pre-flop, don't change the flop cards, turn card or river card. (In a B&M casino,if you fold a pair of two's on the button in a 4 way raised pot, and a pair of two's flops with a king, then a ace on the turn, and a queen on the river--you probably would have won a huge pot)

However, internet poker Random Number Generator's give a very different result. The "fair and random" distribution of cards is simulated mathematically with random events such as time of day, number of players, chip stacks, bet sizes, and even the number of mouse clicks. These variables approximate randomness and change in real-time. Next, these variable are entered into an algorithim to determine the cards that come off the deck.

What this means in internet poker is that if you are dealt a pair of two's on the button in a multi-way raised pot and you fold, if a pair of two's flops, the pair of two's WOULD NOT HAVE HIT THE FLOP if you had not folded. Furthermore, all the "random" events discussed above effect the turn card, and finally the river card.

If someone could do this, it would be greatly appreciated. Hell, I might go do it myself.

I am very interested in the differences. What is different?
Could you post some statistics that show these differences?
What is your sample size? How many standard deviations does online results differ from live play?

What happens if the dealer accidently forgets to burn a card, or burns too many? Can you call a misdeal, because now you don't know what would have happened to your folded 2s?

OMG!?!?!?! I just thought -- DO WE EVEN KNOW IF ONLINE, THEY BURN A CARD?!?!?!?! That damm dealer at Party Poker, his arms never move!!!one!!1! How do we know he isn't dealing seconds?

PokerStars uses a set shuffle just like a real shuffle - the cards are shuffled, and then the shuffling is completed before the first card is dealt. If you fold or play it has no impact on the cards dealt.

Thanks, Jackal. I also posted this question in the Beginners Questions thread and found out what I wanted to know, thanks to KipBond who posted a Full Tilt Forum link that quotes a guy named Perry Friedman who spells it out very nicely. He essentially says what you're saying, but in greater detail. Point is, the cards will probably be different. Here's the link:
