As small an inconvenience as you may perceive it to be for us to have to walk through your stinky cloud of tar and nicotine for 2 seconds, it's even less of an inconvenience for you to to move far enough away from the door so we don't have to.

[/ QUOTE ]

And it's even LESS of an inconvenience for you people to shut the hell up. Are you for real? 1.5 seconds of 2nd hand smoke is the worst thing in the world? OP lives in NY, I'm assuming he doesn't want the smoke to detract from his enjoyment of the smell of fecal matter, sewage, car exhaust or any of the other wonderful smells and air-pollutants of a big city. Give smokers someplace to smoke and then we can go there and BE THE HELL AWAY FROM PEOPLE LIKE YOU

I agree with this. We're not asking you to crouch behind a dumpster in an alley, just stand alongside a building and not immediately next to the entrance/exit.

I think restaraunts and places like that should be able to make up their own mind, however, if you don't like it, don't go there. The only thing that makes me pause on this one is the fact that waitresses then have to inhale all that smoke as part of their job, but I suppose they are choosing to work there (not sure if this is practical, some people NEED the job and can't afford to be picky).

Especially in high volume places like casinos, it makes me actually ill to be around smokers for too long. Smoke gets into your lungs, your nostrils, your clothes, its just not fair to subject people to that.

If you smoke outside a building, just take ten steps away from the entrance alongside the building. Doesn't seem too hard.

you don't know how good you have it.

in china everyone smokes everywhere. not a single restaurant in the whole city is smoke free, forget the F-ing outside the door.

seriously hold your breath or something. and BTW and a little off topic, I would metaphoricly smack any FAT man who complains about smokers... being an ex smoker i can't hate on them, and if you are FAT you clearly don't care about your body (health implications, i don't care about what you look like)

interestingly often the one's who bitch about smokers are [censored] HUGE

As a former smoker, I don't understand why smokers are so defensive about their life-endangering habit. Just because you have made the choice to smoke does not mean you have the right to impose smoking and/or being around smoke on others.

IT KILLS YOU AND THOSE AROUND YOU. No surprise people aren't going to want you up in their grill with second-hand smoke or the smoke off the tip of the stoge that's even more haggard.

Be considerate while smoking; Smoke far away from non-smokers, blow smoke directly upwards instead of at face level, etc. Little things that take no extra effort to you.

PS - Quit smoking. It's surprisingly not that difficult, don't believe the hype, the tobacco industry wants you to believe it's impossible so that you don't even bother. Not to mention that once they've planted the idea that it's 'so difficult' in your head it becomes an easy crutch and excuse to start back up once you've stopped.

Umm the fat man can still complain because he has to inhale the smoke, smell like butts for the rest of the day, etc.

PS- I also hate on fat people that smell. Clean fat people are fine, they're only hurting themselves. (unless they take up my room on the plane/train)

I don't get why people are ragging on the OP. I'm a smoker, but can completely understand why this would piss people off.

I suggest we form a militant anti-smoking group. We can hunt down packs of public smokers and give them paper cuts or piss on their shoes or something. If they complain we can tell them to quit complaining, it won't kill them, it's only an annoyance, and wouldn't they rather smell like piss than car exhaust?

I live in NY and I smoke. While I try to be considerate as possible not to ever blow smoke in someone's direction while outside or in a casino this is getting out of hand. How come no restaurant can make a conscience decision to allow smoking in its building? It is because of people like OP who never have sex and just complain about everything. I think there should be a rule about allowing nitty douchebags into any public setting. While I do not think our bad habits should affect others, I also do not think we should be ostracized for what we chose to do to. There needs to be a happy medium. On another note, I think OP might be happier living in Iowa with the conservative catholics who voted for Bush then NYC. I am going outside now to smoke a cigarette.
