I saw Rounders, thought it was great, but never really got into poker until last year when an LJ buddy start posting incessantly about playing it and I ended up watching poker on TV (WPT) one night with my father. I played for awhile, went busto on my first $50 deposit on Full Tilt and then reloaded and have been relatively prosperous on the micros since.

But no, Rounders didn't actually get me into (nor Moneymaker). I was a true latecomer.

When Rounders came out I was in 5th grade and had yet to learn how to tie my shoes.

EDIT: Scratch that, wrong painful memory. In 5th grade I was learning the gettysburg address.

Same. Bought Hellmuth's book > HPFAP > 2p2 forums > TOP.

Games went from LHE > SNGS/MTTS> FR cash > 6 max.

I think the route I took is really good for starters as it limits losing an ass-tonne of cash whilst you still learn the game that revolves around a very TAG strategy.

Watched Rounders in the fall of '04, signed up for a Party play money account the next day. In April I made a $50 deposit.

I played seriously before Rounders, but quit. Once I saw Rounders I had to start playing again.

I was into gambling from a young age and always knew the rules/handrankings when it came to poker (mostly 5 card draw then), but I wasn't seriously into it until I was flipping through the channels one night and came across Hon Le and Mark Seif battling on WPT. Around the same time, some of my friends were getting into it, and we competed for a month or two on the PokerPages freeroll leaderboards. I practiced, bought Super System, and things just progressed from there.
