Re: NL10 - Calling With the 2nd Nuts
raise the river, no way does villain not Cbet w/ NFD, if they're taggy. (if they're IP they may, but thats a more advanced play) his bet seems like a blocker, hell minraise it.

Re: NL10 - Calling With the 2nd Nuts
I think this river is definitely a shove. You'll get called by 2 pair or a straight an awful lot. The times he has a better flush, well, better luck next time. If you think villain won't call a shove without the nuts, you could raise smaller, but you need to raise for value here.

Push, he's blocking. [/ QUOTE ] If he's blocking, there's no value in a raise, is there? [ QUOTE ] raise the river, no way does villain not Cbet w/ NFD, if they're taggy. (if they're IP they may, but thats a more advanced play) his bet seems like a blocker, hell minraise it. [/ QUOTE ] The minraise definitely crossed my mind. A much easier crying call for sets/two pair/straight hands. Villian was aggressive, but he's check-calling here. I've potted two streets, and he's still hanging around. By the river, I felt he was holding the A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. It was his other card that I couldn't read. But I can't put him on a set, he would have popped me on the flop. He may have hit a set with TT on the turn, and is check-calling trying to fill up. I don't think he has two pair. He's paying attention, which is surprising considering its NL10. On the river, a proper raise is a push, given his stack size and the size of the pot. But I thought this guy could get away from a non-flush hand and would only call with a flush. He made a preflop raise from the Cutoff, but considering his stats, he would try to steal here with a variety of hands, including suited connectors. If he has the nut flush, he's played it strangely; the nut flush would have bet or checkraised the turn. I just couldn't find any value in a river raise (except for the minraise). I thought this was an interesting hand to post. Its not often you get to Level 2 thinking at NL10. Its also not often that a minraise may be the proper line. Against 98% of my opponents at this level, I'm pushing. But this guy wasn't your average NL10 donk. |

[...] this guy wasn't your average NL10 donk. [/ QUOTE ] Good. Then he can't have check/called the turn OOP with the nut flush. Right? Because that's something your average NL10 donk would do. |

Re: NL10 - Calling With the 2nd Nuts
Thanks for all the responses. This was the one hand after my session that had me scratching my head, and I thought I would throw it out here for discussion. To me, it was an interesting hand because Villian played it opposite of his image. He could have doubled up on the turn, though. I would have pushed over a turn raise faster than Britney runs away from rehab.
This post was not intended as a BBV post, although it probably looks like it. It was a post about a hand against a solid opponent who played his hand strangely (and makes him less of a solid player now, in my eyes). I still think he read my hand perfectly and knew I was in a tough spot. I don't think I've ever played a 2nd nut hand this passively before and I honestly have no excuse/reason for not getting stacked, although I was called a nit at another table a few moments before this hand. It was one of those online poker split second decisions while we're busy playing 3 other tables that is inexplicable later. Although my play was -EV, it was good for the metagame and my table image. Not to be results oriented (because I still think I should have raised for all the reasons you guys stated and I left money on the table in the long run), but here's the results. Kinda explains why I couldn't hit my stone cold nuts draw. Again, thanks for the discussion.
