Percival will definitely come up short.
The question with Rivera and Hoffman is not will they be inducted, but when will they be inducted. |

For reference: Mariano 881 Regular IP 200 ERA+, 112.7 Postseason IP, .8 ERA Hoffman 885 Regular IP at 149 ERA+, 13 Postseason IP, 3.46 ERA Prior 657 Regular IP at 122 ERA+, 23.3 Posteason IP, 2.31 ERA Percival 611 Regular IP at 150 ERA+, 9.7 Posteason IP, 2.79 ERA The reason Mariano is a slam dunk is because of his incredible postseason output. I think Hoffman is probably the borderline HOFer and Percival is three or four years shy of that level. [/ QUOTE ] Hoffman ain't borderline |

percival probably won't come in because then that would open the floodgates for all sorts of folks who are on that level.... rivera has had longevity, postseason success and dominance factor on his side... hoffman's the same w/o the postseason success....
being dominant for a handful of years does not a hof'er make.... |

If Lee Smith isn't in the HOF, I'm pretty sure Percival doesn't need to be.
The only guys who consistantly closed that should be in the HOF are Rivera, the best postseason closer period, maybe best overall postseason pitcher and Hoffman, a guy who now owns the record in saves. |

Rivera and Hoffman are both in no questions asked. Billy Wagner is the only other closer I can imagine that has any shot of making it from the current era. I put his chances at like 15%
