I was once part of a group of fifty employees. We were fired by a pre-recorded conference call. Five minutes after the conference call was over my manager called and said they were rehiring a few people and offered my a significantly higher salary than I was making before. I felt like I was in Office Space.

I took the job and did absolutely nothing while I looked for a better job and still have no idea what their motivation was.

This is effing hilariously inept.

If I was one of the folks laid off and then offered a lower salary to come back, I would sit on my ass and collect unemployment from them.

I worked at a CC for a while as did many of my other friends. About 8-10 of my friends continued working there until they closed the local store a little over a month ago. Overall from what I have seen from CC their poor decisions to get rid of their higher paid employees to try and hire them back at a lower cost doesn't surpise me a bit.

Almost all of my friends that were at CC when it closed, moved over to Best Buy and now make more money and like it a lot better as well.

Wow, a big company trying to make a profit, I cant believe it. I cant blame them, so I wouldnt be really bitter about going back.

[/ QUOTE ]

Are you really that stoopid, or do you like taking the same job over and over again for less money, while the cost of your life goes up?

This is an incredibly shortsighted move by Circuit City, who never truly recovered from the last time they did this. Maybe they needed to reduce costs after that big hit they took in a racial discrimination lawsuit a couple years back.

The best of the employees who were making more money, will continue to make more money by taking jobs *somewhere else*. If you're willing to go back to the same employer for less money than you made last week, it must be because you kinda suck at sales and aren't capable of actually finding a better job . And if that the salesperson roster Circuit City will be maintaining, they will perform even more poorly against the competition. Vicious cycle, ya know.

And if Carmax hadn't been propping them up for all those years, they would have been gone years ago.

The walmart in my city just fired all their managers and rehired them at lower salaries.

[/ QUOTE ]

Is this a serious statement or a funny joke? I find this impossible to believe. I am sure walmartwatch or some other site would of reported this.

Circuit City is a joke.
Best Buy is to Circuit City what Walmart is to K-Mart.
They're playing a game of catch up they can't win.
They've got some value in property, but that's it.
