Agreed, 88 makes perfect sense. As does 78s and 68s, doesn't look like a bluff tho.
That being said, anyone like villains bet as a bluff? Not sure what hand hero would play like this that can call a river bet from a tight player |

it's a shove/fold (the shove is a bluff, but a lot of better hands fold here)
the trick is that thestandman is correct that he relatively rarely actually has a straight, and fairly often shows up with 1 pair |

How do you not bet the turn?
He obviously has something like 87, 88 |

Your hand looks likes a draw to him. And the only draws on the board on are straight draws. So why would he try to bluff you on that river? I think he probably had the str8 draw, and now has two pair/set/str8 on the river. Fold.
Shoving seems to be a quick way to donate to an 8. I mean sure itll bluff him off some hands, but most of the time your just donating away your whole stack. |

[/ QUOTE ] His river bet is 70.8% of the pot. He could very well be mixing up here. Let's assume that he hit his set. He could check this turn to hope this opponent bluffs, and if he does not bluff hit 2 pair on the river and pay his river bet. That's why i think there is a lot of fold equity if you push, that's why i wanted to know the stack sizes. Calling against a hit set looks silly and you are very often beat. |

sorry for the let down, I folded.
I agree bet-calling the turn is the right play. I also agree given my turn check, the river fold is good. If trambop wants to tell us what he had that would be nice -DrG |
