Default Re: Kobe... 50 in 4th straight game...

btw, the NBA record is 7 straight games with 50 points by Wilt.

the Lakers get a day off then play:

vs GS(I could definitely see him getting 50)

one day rest

vs Mem(same)

two days rest

vs Hous(will be tough against Battier and with Yao patrolling the middle. He'll have to shoot very well to get it here)

one day rest

vs Sac(shouldn't be that hard).

So all 4 are home games. Only tough one is vs Houston.

I'd give Kobe a 45% shot of getting 6 games, a 12% shot of tying the record, and a 6% shot of breaking it.

Thoughts?

hes like a poor mans steve nash.

Except, you know, better.

Kobe is wayyyyyyyyy more talented, but Nash is a better basketball player.

That said, in NO WAY is he a poor man's Steve Nash. You are an idiot for suggesting this.

[/ QUOTE ]

the difference between kobe and nash is this:

kobe can play a nash-esque game 15+ points 10+ assists ( he has done it 5 times and came close another couple - 1 assist away)

nash can not score 50+

that being said, if i was an owner and only concerned with a winning franchise i would pick steve nash.

I'm not sure how you go through all that and then arrive at the conclusion that you'd pick Kobe, especially considering that your post only talked about offense and still favored Kobe.

As big of a supporter of Nash as I am, I would take Kobe over him. Nash would definitely be top 5 though. Probably something like:

1. Kobe
2. Dirk
3. KG
4. Nash
5. Duncan
6. Wade

btw...a few years ago Duncan would've definitely been higher, so don't jump over that low #5 ranking too much.

These are the 6 guys I consider the top tier currently of NBA players.

okay im guessing you meannt to switch kobe with steve nash the first time you used it (since i said id pick nash not kobe)

anwyay...

to put it in a different way

nash is surronded by 5 players that are rated as 5,8.5,8,7,7
b/c of nash he makes them 6.5, 9.5., 9, 8, 8.5
for a net gain of 6.5

i dont think kobe can do it (also the ability to score a ton is a lot harder in the playoffs)

The team has been needing him to go off lately. Early in the season he was playing the team game and it was meshing really well with Odom and Walton, but they lost those guys for a pretty long period of time and their record started to really slump. Kobe kept trying to play the team game and it wasn't working. I think right now he's just doing what he needs to and reacting to Phil. After that horrendous losing streak Phil said he needed to start getting off early instead of trying to work himself into the game plan. I think when Odom and Walton get completely back he'll reduce his role a little again

yeah I did mean it that way.

I totally understand the point about Nash making his teamates better- trust me, I've argued FOR him a ton on this board. I just think that Kobe is better.

its understandable they are both very good, but they are very good in different ways which to me makes the question impossible to answer.

also you could argue the support cast is pheonix is much better even without nash.

I'm sorry but Yao not being on that list is really really stupid.

PM me if you are serious with those numbers. I would love to bet money with the odds.

Since these numbers are completely arbitrary it's kind of hard to make sense of them.
However you can only list 4 people Nash improves at once. Unless Phoenix plays with 6 people on the floor or you give credit to Nash for making himself better.
If you think Amare or Marion are 8 or 8.5 I think you are really wrong, of course I have no idea if I'm right or wrong since those numbers mean nothing to me.
