[ QUOTE ] All I can say is that is one hell of an overbet in any circumstance...because of that follow your gut. [/ QUOTE ] coach me? [/ QUOTE ] I am going to assume that was an attempt to be sarcastic. One question for op, what can you beat? You can beat queens, or maybe jacks, but it is more likely he is holding a set or straight flush draw and you are virtually even money. Because of the ridiculous size of the overbet, it is hard to discern if he is on a stone cold bluff, is trying to confuse you, or really does have a legit hand and wants to win it right here. Because of this, I would say simply follow your instincs. Personally I would fold, if he turned over qq or something oh well you got bluffed but the pot is small. The sign of a really good player is one who can lay down a big hand...and imo kings are a pretty big hand on this kind of board. |

I agree, but what's rarely? If he always has a OESFD, TPTK+NFD or GSFD, the call is slightly +EV, if it's a set even 5% it becomes -EV.

When playing the hand, I figured that a combo draw was the most likely hand, followed by spade overs, followed by set/2pair. After thinking about it more this looks like a fold because of the point about only needing to be behind here a small amount of the time for a call to be -EV.
In the hand, I called and the villian indeed did have 99 for a strangely played top set. After the hand, he bragged about how great of a play he made, which pissed me off...lol. |
