Re: The Sopranos
Sopranos is hands down the best television drama ever made.
I just hope the last half dozen or so episodes are done well, unlike the first half of season 6 which was pretty meh. |

Re: The Sopranos
The Sopranos and The Wire are untouchable in terms of all-time American drama.
I can't wait for the return of the Sopranos (ZOMG SO CLOSE!). |

Re: The Sopranos
I'm pretty sure that David Chase is going to leave the ending open enough to revisit in a movie if desired.

[ QUOTE ]
Years ago, I hoped the series would end with Tony on trial, being found guilty, and then being locked in a tiny cell in the final scene. [/ QUOTE ] I agree that would be a great ending. One of the things I like about the show is that the protagonist doesn't really have much of a 'redeeming quality', like most villain protagonists seem to be required to have. It's very honest and it is conflicting for you as a viewer because you still care about him. The show has done a great job of showing how, in order for Tony and his family to maintain their lifestyle, many others have to suffer - and I'm not talking about the criminals that suffer at his hands, but the honest working people that fund his business. I think it was in season 2 when he was letting AJ drive their yacht and telling him to watch their wake as they sped past a smaller boat of fishermen who were overturned by it - great symbolism. |

Re: The Sopranos
GS - spot on. You know that Tony is a bad person. You know that he doesn't treat the people that are close to him like he should. You know that he deserves jail or death - but you can't stop rooting for him.
Tony in jail would be the perfect ending to the show. I hadn't heard about the possibility of a movie, but I think that if Chase compromises the end of the series for the possibility of a movie that would be pretty weak. |

Re: The Sopranos
I think ultimately A.J. or Meadow will reject their parents, which would be the worst possible thing to happen to Tony and Carmela.

[/ QUOTE ] i think that would be awesome but we'd need some kind of market/contract system. it's too easy to pick someone like chris even though carmella or tony is much more fun/rewarding. but you'd need odds. probably too complicated? |
