Just reminded me of a $16 turbo I played two nights ago on Stars. Playing the bubble and I was big stack in BB. Small stack SB pushes for about 4-5 BB. I called with J9 diamonds and he turned over 23 diamonds. Of course, he hit his 3 but we had a little fun with him when he started screaming about what an awful call I made. Eventually he went out on the bubble.

GTFOH!!!! Shoving 43 on this bubble is suicide. BB is not folding, you're only ahead of 23, and you're only 50/50 vs 22, everything else is winning/crushing you. ViewPoint has around 3k too on the button, blinds will hit him again before you.

Pushing this bb with anything less than QT here is horrible, i wait for AT here because I want to shove a spot where people might fold!!! thats against the stacks!!

vs BB = BB can call you 90% of the time, 20% because he has a good hand, and 70% because he knows your shoving light.

vs shortstack = he can shove light on you, but I don't him calling with < top 50% here, A high hes calling your push

vs medium stacks = they can only correctly call you with A7+ 22+, I don't think they would jeorpadize otherwise with another shortstack in play. They might even fold small pps to you.

I know pushing is different than calling with 43, but against this particular bb with your stack, calling/pushing is almost the same. I only see the BB folding the likes of T2, J4, K2, etc. Unless he's a NIT.

WITH NO READS FOLD, way too many other spots to steal still, but pls not against the big stack with 43.

There is some published material on this.
With 7 BB's and action folded to your SB, you are simply leaving money on the table if you fold any above average hand. Even if the BB could see your cards and played perfectly you have +cEV for pushing probably 2/3 to 3/4 of the deck. Add to that the possibility of the BB folding some hands that are ahead and you really should not be folding 9x or better IMO.

Unless the BB is particularly tight in this spot, 43o is almost never an auto-shove (you'd need to be down to 2 BB's or so). If you are hovering around the 4-5 BB area you may be able to take advantage of some bad folds by him however.

Agreed. If you truly have no FE (and there obviously is SOME) you have to still push the top half.

This seems like a really easy shove any two. What am I missing?

My concern is pushing so weak into the big stack when he can afford to call you wide, and if he is any good (and even if he is not) he likly knows what your shove means. Pushing any two into someone that you can hurt them if they call is different from pushing into a giant...

Yep, I was having an ADD moment, I stated QTo read SB but thought button, can't explain it beyond ADD and brain fart. SB could push more than QTo, I'm just a super nit this week...
