[/ QUOTE ] Derrek Lee is tearing the cover off the ball with no apparent residual pain from last year's wrist injury. Also, Ronny Cedeno made a play at shortstop yesterday on a bad hop grounder that rivals Ozzie Smith's famous bare handed stab while he was a Padre. [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: Spring Training preformances that give you a woody
[ QUOTE ]
Matsuzaka in the 4th today was nails. He wanted strike 3, ump said no. Turns his back to plate, gets pissed. Rears back, 95 mph. Then 96 mph twice. I am watching it right now for first time and he's retired 10 in a row. Bulldog says now he sees it. The competiveness and the heat. He was Spring Training fastball at 91 and everybody was hmmm...but he's a vet getting ready for season. Plus the witch pitches. WTF GET A CLOSER!! I worry they got Jetter and Cano (freak) and we got a Luggie and a kid from Pawtucket...oh f-it. Headsup Sox over Yanks, Yank score close to 1000 runs this year win the the division, just gotta get in. Love Sox Love Baseball. Dig the Pads too. 3base KOOOS ball explodes off his bat, gave up Barfield Jr to get him, but looks good. Wells is the MAN, but really looks done. [/ QUOTE ] This now takes top prize for the post that makes the least sense. |

Re: Spring Training preformances that give you a woody
Matsusaka had more velocity on his fastball than previous outings this spring. He also has his well documented variety of off speed and breaking pitches (witch pitches). This impressed Orel Hershiser (bulldog). Red Sox rotation looks strong, but they lack a closer, which is surprising (WTF!).
Rival Yankees are strong up the middle, Red Sox have Julio Lugo (Luggie) and Dustin Pedroia (hit .300 at AAA). This concerns me. Yankees led the league in scoring last season and this year they look to me to do the same, 900+ runs very possible. So I think they will win the East, but if Red Sox get in playoffs, I like them to beat the Yankees. Good pitching beats good hitting. (Plus historically over this milleneum the Yankees have proven to be tremendous chokers, including the most historic choke job in history, with choking players playing 3rd, whereas Sox are proven World Champs this century with the clutchiest bats around) Kevin Kosmonov (Kooos) is new Padre 3rd Basemen. He has hit the ball hard this Spring. |

Re: Spring Training preformances that give you a woody
Kubel is hitting the ball well which is a really good sign for the Twins. If he could put up decent numbers at DH for the Twins this year it would be huge. Hopefully his knees hold up well enough for that at least!
Cuddyer is also hitting the ball well so far, if he can have the kind of year he had last year (or even, gasp, improve!) that would be huge also. Castillo is batter .530 through 35 ABs or so. Hopefully he is healthy again! Also: Nathan/Rincon/Neshek, 17ip, 0er, 18Ks Santana 14ip, 11K, 1ER (he usually starts kind of slow) Crain/Garza/Ortiz/Bonser have all looked solid too. I just wish they weren't going to keep Garza out of the rotation |

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah I agree, as long as Grienke comes along and a few other pitchers too. But hopefully Gordon can battle for AL Rookie of the Year. |
