Re: nl200 overpair facing all-in
to be honest, there isn't an exact reasoning for raising this flop. I mostly did it because his original preflop raise looked very much like QQ+ or even AQ+ and i didnt not want to be stuck if the turn came a Q,K, or A. I was hoping to just take the pot down right here. When he shoved, i was about 90% sure he had me beat, which means he most likely would have bet the turn leaving me with another call or fold situation which i did not want to be in.

Re: nl200 overpair facing all-in
raising this flop is horrible if you intend on folding to a shove.

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Everyone is saying that the flop raise is *bad*, and I disagree. [/ QUOTE ] can you elaborate? [/ QUOTE ] I just mean that the raise isn't -EV. It may not (or may) be optimal, but it's not a losing play. [/ QUOTE ] Open shoving AA PF is +EV and yet it's horrible. This flop raise/fold is bad without some kind of very specific read. |

Re: nl200 overpair facing all-in
A lot of opponents could donk-call with a hand like JT here most of the time, but show up with a set every now and then. So I still don't agree.

Re: nl200 overpair facing all-in
I would raise 4-6bb instead of 3 because I like to take the pot immediately with JJ. In this situation my first impression is that the raise postflop after a bet is a good one.
But after reading some other opinions I think call the bet after the flop is a better one. |
