egads. i did not know about nl games not capped on buy-in at these limits. i'm not sure if i like that.

[/ QUOTE ]

I would say the avg buy in on 1/2 is 200 and 500ish on the 2/5.

I'd like to know the true thought process behind the people who buy in for 1k plus on a 1/2. I just can't think of a great reason for it. That is unless you see someone who has that much plus who is the definition of a loose fish.

The Terrace is nice. You can't walk to the casino from there (well, you could), but the Grand runs frequent shuttles to their casino from the Terrace and the Veranda. Last time I was there, Terrace had free wireless access in the lobby, which is quite spacious.

the entire shuttle bus thing is not mentioned at all on the internets. i guarantee that this is not an accidental omission. had i not heard about this from nicksdad i would have had no idea until i got there.

consequently, i cancelled at the grand and got a room at gold strike. it was one of the last rooms they had, but it is half the price. why is it half the price? gold strike OK?

I think the gold strike is fine, but I have never really understood the desire to spend a lot of money on a hotel room.

Gold Strike is fine and is located much better than Grand--unless you want to play Grand heavily. I don't like the rooms quite as much as those at the Grand, and I don't think there is free wireless internet. But if you won't have a car in Tunica (or don't like driving even short distances), Gold Strike is a much better choice.

Instead of me derailing GrannyMae's thread I'd like to start a topic on this. I'm interested in seeing yours as well as everyone elses thoughts on this.

Granny - If you are flying in and don't have a car then you are definitely better off staying at the Gold Strike for the above mentioned 'shuttle' reason.

We stayed at the Veranda/Grand last time we went on a free offer. Even with a car it's kind of a pain because you still have to find a parking-spot and hike back to the hotel, etc...as opposed to just waking up and walking to the elevator like at the G.S.

Moot point now - I can't imagine the Terrace is that much better than the Veranda. The Bellismo Spa and work-out room is at the Veranda (GF likes that) and the rooms were pretty nice. For this reason, it seems the Veranda is the preferred place. Perhaps it's also slightly more expensive so it was rated lower just for 'value' reasons.

But for the shuttle and parking reasoning we won't be staying there. It's just so much nicer to stay in the actual place where you will be doing most of your activities...and Gold Strike/Horseshoe/Sheraton are pretty much the same place.

Gold Strike and Horseshoe are practically attached so walking between them is easy.
We like to stay at the Sheraton because it's right next to the Horseshoe as well and every room is a jacuzzi suite.
But Gold Strike is nice enough and very convenient for the two best poker-rooms in town (Horseshoe and Gold Strike).

The uncapped buy-in NL you get used to I guess.
You can still buy-in shorter obviously. But it's pretty common at the 2/5 NL for some players to buy-in for $3k or more (usually with a wad of $100's...cash plays in Tunica).
2/5 NL can play pretty wild sometimes.
Although these days I think it's a little bit tighter when I've been playing there. I assume it's partly because it's busted too many of the idiots too quickly.

The only 10/20 and 20/40 limit during the week will be at Horseshoe in all likelihood.
20/40 frequently plays like a crazy 40/80 with wild 6 or 7-way capping pre-flop and stuff like that I've been told.
I haven't had the guts to try it.

10/20 is more mellow and not nearly as wild. But still with beatable players of course.

MAAAAYYYYBBEEE they get a 10/20 limit game going at Gold Strike on weekends.
During the week I would kind of doubt it.

Horseshoe's tournaments are likely the best too.
The $125 bounty on Wednesdays I like the most. You get $25 cash anytime you knock out a player. It's fun.

The Mon, Tue, Thu 65/40/40 rebuys are good too.

The Grand and Gold Strike offer decent tourneys too.

i can't seem to find that msgambling site or whatever it was that info on all the tunica casino poker-tourneys and promotions.
Did the domain expire or am I just not typing it in right?

Also - Granny and NicksDad and whoever else.

GF and I are planning on heading down there Monday-Tuesday 20th-21st.
Probably staying at Gold Strike or Sheraton (haven't made reservations yet, they both regularly send me coupons in the mail).

Mini-get-together??
