The solution is, to take the top of the cover, and since they usually have elastic on them to stretch over the lid. Lift the seat, pull the elastic over the seat, seat will stay up.
Its optional to leave it this way and not put the seat/lid back down as well.

Agreed. Females use this tactic to try to get you to pee sitting down so you do not violate the area behind the lid and the floor. The solution of course is to remove the cover and pee but with the seat down so that you create a nice surface coating of your smell on it and then replace the offending furry cover. by the time that inconsiderate recepticle removes it the smell will give her a kick she will not soon forget my friend.
