I think a lot of mentally defective people, possibly including myself, don't get the treatment they need because they don't think they need it. Should it be the docs place to remind patients that they need to be treated?

My only basis in answering this question is that I'm a psychology undergrad but anyway...the psychologist/psychiatrist has a responsibility to give you ethically and medically proper care, but in terms of this kind of care, I think he only needs to worry if you've shown that you might be a danger to yourself or other people.
