Why is anyone using these for withdrawals? Unless you need the money as fast as possible, they are only a little faster than checks, correct?

If by "a little faster" you mean 24 hours as opposed to 1 week, then you are correct.

My checks have been within a week thus far, but even if it is a week, I'll still wait to avoid the fees.

So to avoid the fee, the check is "a little slower", correct?

Assuming an ATM-imposed $500 max withdrawal, I'd venture a guess that an 0.8% fee is for most people an acceptable cost if needed for near-immediate access to Stars account funds.

I agree.. I'm going to be getting one of these basically for emergency access to cash.

Got mine today (NY). I'm basically going to use it for four digit purchases from the Internet and just load it up with the exact amount every time.

Used that way, it's just as good as Neteller (okay, a $1 fee for a big ticket item - I can live with that.)

The POS fee is $1, so theoretically you could buy groceries and get a bunch of cashback for a $1 fee...? I don't think I've ever tried to get more than like $40 cashback on a debit card purchase so I'm not too sure on that.
