It's not either of the sites. It's verizon that's [censored] up everyone's connection.

it could be a problem with the us internet backbone to isle of man or wherever these sites are based, like a sub hit it or something

It would mess up any traffic that has to go through Verizon's main servers. It would depend on ISP and geographic location so it's kind of hard to be more specific than that.
