Are you suggesting that the dealer/floor made the incorrect decision and his call was not binding?

[/ QUOTE ]

He's not suggesting it, he's outright stating it. I agree with EBJ.

ok. well, thanks. Its good to know the correct ruling for next time and when it happens again, i think i'll just say,

"dont worry about it, you dont have to call" and proceed as if it did not happen... and bet or check accordingly.

As it happened, after all the hoopla, when i looked at villain he cockily said something to effect of, "Do whatever you want, cause whatever you bet, i'm still gonna call".

So i pushed and he called. he had K5 for 2 pair.

...dealer made a mistake here.

His call is not binding. Im suprised that villian agreed to this without asking for a floorperson.

If you read the thread, the floor was called and the dealer was upheld.

I only read the original post.
I have a hard time believing that the floor upheld the dealers decision. Was everyone drunk at the time?

Keep in mind that your decision about rules in cardrooms is also not binding.

Villain calls the floor and hopefully gets the insane statement from the dealer overruled. Villain is not committed to call any size bet you choose to make. Action out of turn is binding if the action doesn't change by the time it gets to that player. Well--the action is currently 0. Soon as you bet villain is welcome to call or fold.

[/ QUOTE ]

this is interesting.

[/ QUOTE ]

Nope. Not interesting. It's standard.

The interesting part is when the floor upheld the dealer's ruling. Was the villain known and disliked by the dealer and/or floor?

You guys have all missed the obvious play: I check. Why? Because after all that has gone down you know damn well the drunk is going to bet! Then you can call or raise!

Dom is gonna make my head hurt. If someone out of turn says "check" or "I call" I think they cannot then raise or bet. That kinda falls out of the "out of turn action may be binding" rule--the out of turn action will be binding if the action doesn't change, so if the first player then checks, the guy behind is required to check. I think. But I'll defer this one to someone paid to make such rulings.
