I have all 4 teams advancing to the 2nd round, which is 4wins right there, and i also have 3 teams advancing to the sweet 16... i have a&m going to the final 4, as i do kansas, so I really dont think this is a very good bet, but I woudl like somebody elses input, maybe im just big12 bias

well, I've started to put together a spreadsheet on BigXII wins, but it looks like some work. I'll put it on the back burner.

the dirty and very ineffective way is to just estimate the teams chances of advancing to each round (Many are available around the net) and figure out each teams expected wins and just use your best judgment based on that

The more explicit way is to calculate the probability for each event that leads to less than 7.5 conference wins, such as Kansas winning 6 times, A&M 1, the rest zero, etc.
That's alot of combinations. You also run into the problems of trees where the two teams would play each other and by necessity one wins and one loses. I'm sure if I was at the top of my linear algebra game, I could handle it. Alas, I'm far from the top of my game.

7.5 looks like a solid number to me. TxTech might be a fat zero. If Kansas gets 4 wins you need UT and TxAM to both win 2 games.
USC could beat UT on any given day.
Kansas has to get thru Uk/Nova, SoIll/VaTech, just to get to a UCLA matchup. 4 wins is no slam dunk.

I'd lean under, but think this is pretty solid #.
