A pot control check is good but I would make it on the dry flop rather than the turn.

Yah just check. If you get a river bet paid, you'll be pulling well over 50BB off this guy with TP2K, which to me is plenty gold enough for this type of holding.

The situation here depends on what kind of LAG villain is. I prefer a check if villain bluffs frequently; don't we gain more value in his bluff potential on the river? Also, if by some chance villain has a six, we lose the least amount possible this way. If villain overvalues a hand like A-10 in this spot (even though we 3-bet him preflop), I probably would make a bet here. If villain calls, I'm not sure whether or not I would value bet the river if a T or J fell (assuming villain doesn't bet out). In general, I think the turn check makes our river decision easier and opens the door to allow villain to bluff (our line looks a lot like a big pair below aces this way).

Would the play be any different if I have AK here?

No, A single pair is a single pair. AK/AQ is the same in this spot.

I don't get it, we 3 bet this guy all the time, get as good of a flop for aq as we can expect and we shut down?

I'd take different lines here depending on how last few pots have been played, but I want the money in.

What can we do differently up to the turn, nothing.
On the turn we can either bet and tell him we have a big ace where he MIGHT call and hes def folding river if we have him beat.
However checking turn and VB river has that same bet but a much higher call percentage because of are underrepped hand.
Checking ALSO allows villian to bluff.
