Re: Fold set of Q on turn?
UTG doesn't likely have KK. Doubtful a tight passive KK is betting that flop. Looks more like AA. Or AKs. If she raises behind you, she has AK. I'd call and see what she does. Folding the river UI.

I folded the turn feeling icky all over. She three bet, MP called. The river was a T pairing the board. She bet, he called. She had KK. He had 98. I didn't know he was -that- bad. "Knowing" that he had a K combined with the utg's flop bet made me think she had AA even more. She is also way less weak tight than I thought she was before. It has been a few years since I played with her with any regularity.
After reading everyone's comments I feel better about the fold. Thanks for all your responses. |

One reason you can't fold is because you didn't put any pressure on her at all so you're basically just guessing as to what she has even though her range might be narrow.

Which is why I'd have called. Sometimes you just have to suck it up and make the crying call into the river. b |

Re: Fold set of Q on turn?
I am paying this puppy off. I can't count how many times early in my playing career where I made a beautiful read and a beautiful laydown only to look on in horror as I laid down the winner. With a pot this size I am paying off with a smile.
Also, I wouldnt be in the habit of laying down to a single 3rd bet on the flop in a monster pot when I have a set in low limit holdem. It is generally a terrible idea and it encourages players to take shots at you. Second. Your read cannot be that good on her, especially if your read is from a single session. |
