i think folding yields most profit in the long term

hmmm

blue.. tough spot

you can't call, because your implied odds are basically non-existant, and you don't have direct odds, so we can throw that out the door, unless you are comfortable c/fing to any future action, unless you hit your J

i'm not even sure if c/cing a diamond would be winning you a lot of money, but you probably have to call

since he's been 4-betting a lot, his range may very well contain enough air or hands that can't stand heat that pushing is +EV

ask yourself what you think his four betting range is, and do the math, if you want, but intuitively, given the situation, i think a push should be profitable

B/3B AI

edit: make sure you dont get it in against AdAx, QdQx, AdKx
if his range consists of much more than this you can get it in correctly.

some donk ain't folding TPTK after he puts 1/7 of his stack in pf

you said his smaller bets tended to be bluffs, and his flop bet was a slight overbet, which means your hand is no good here, yeah? Or did I misinterpret?

[/ QUOTE ]

well he min-raise bluffs the flop and turn sometimes; however, when he actually bets, he bets pretty big.

Well, I didn't learn much from this thread. oh well.

I pushed, he called.

Unfortunately he had A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K, and I was pretty much fcked.

Perhaps the diamond in my hand caused me to overplay it; I basically thought "lots of times I'm ahead and he'll fold or maybe even call (eg- some bad pocket pair), sometimes I'm behind and he'll call; but even if he does I have outs. And occasionally maybe he'll even fold a btter hand (like QQ no diamond) although this is very unlikely considering i sometimes expect him to call w/ worse."

but a big part of the reason I pushed was b/c i had the J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]...I woulda insta-folded w/o it.

Mike makes a very good point in saying that you can never be very far ahead if you get it all in now. However, as evidenced, you can be quite far behind. A fold here could be considered to be +EV.

Shoving is obviously better than calling but as far as being ahead, pretty much only a hand with the naked Ad, or some nonsense like Kx9d, is in the range of hands you're beating.
