I usually just deposit by atm whenever I'm concerned that it might be a problem. I'd rather get a phone call than deal with an endless parade of idiots at the bank.

[/ QUOTE ]
People actually go to the bank?

No problems so far, I have a well established account and I'm not doing anything shady though.

Hmm, just wondering - my brothers have signed over checks and they give me crap about it at the local branch. So weird.

wamu wont take them at all

After calling commerce and wamu I deceided to just depsit it into my local credit union (my brother has an account also so I figured if they bitch Ill just have them put it into his account and have him trasnfer me the money) They actually did what a bank should do- STFU and process the transaction

On a possibly related note. Let's say someone was getting checks from their poker site, and didn't really want the hassle of having to explain the deposits on their bank statements to *whomever*. What would be the easiest/cheapest way for said person to get cash in hand for these checks?

At most places, just cashing a check will not show up on your statement.

It does if it goes into your account. Oh. Ahhhhh. Now I think I see why everyone keeps hassling with the tellers.

Meh, it's not just that - I'm not trying to evade taxes, and no one should just by cashing checks at the teller stand, either. I just don't like depositing anything to the ATM because the two banks I use don't make the funds available until the next business day, and that can cause problems for business accounts that have large expenses and large deposits. So, I take my deposits to the bank teller and take my personal items with me as well.

At all the places I've worked, the only reason a cashed check should be run through your account (deposited, then withdrawn) is if it's a business account. If it's all personal, then it is processed separately. It will have your account number on it, but that's only in case the check is returned. That's just been my experience.
