Watch it with someone who can explain what is going on. It's better then.

As for bowlers need to brush them off the plate (wicket)? They bowl straight at the batsmen!

I still prefer baseball, but it's still not a bad sport once you learn a bit about it and the international aspect is cool.

Did someone forget to mention the 5 day variant that usually ends in a draw?

I can't believe some of the lines that have been out for the cricket world cup. Right now the West Indies needs 323 runs to beat Australia. The line at betfair is Australia 1.25 to win (decimal odds). The West Indies have never successfully chased down more than 300 and managed 324 batting second once. The top 5 figures on that site are on pitches in South Africa and Australasia which are known to favour batting. The West Indies' last 3 batsmen have an ODI batting average in the single digits, so the top order would have to carry them through the full 50 overs. If South Africa (currently ranked no 1 in the world) can not get 300 chasing Austalia on a smaller ground with a stronger batting line-up, I don't see the West Indies achieving this target once in at least thirty games.

Australia vs W.I. WIN

Not even close. West Indies limp to just over 200 with only 4 batsmen making double figures.

S.A. vs Sri Lanka half time S.A. need 210 to win. At odds of 1.26 I see value in this although only for 1 unit this time. The South Africans have a decent batting line-up and have yet to make less than 290 in the world cup. They can play less risky shots and take it in singles. With batting depth to Pollock and Kemp the only way I see them not making this is losing early wickets combined with rain to perish under Duckworth Lewis.

Cboevy,

Have you taken into account the pitch favoring the Sri Lankans and their spinners?

Murily might get two to four wickets. I think the rest will still make it. If I remember correctly, Kallis and Boucher are quite good at playing spin. Although I agree with your sentiment about the pitch.

That was almost a monumental collapse by South Africa there. If only Sri Lanka had not finished its innings almost as poorly.

What a sensational game. At 1.26 you got out of jail.

Tonight:
NZ (-125) vs WI
WI have predictably played consistently poorly, Lara and Samuel the only standout performers in an otherwise disappointing batting lineup and blunt bowling attack. NZ have found form, bat deep, and should brush aside WI with relative ease. I predict a 5 wicket or 50 run win here. 2 units
