Add Randal Falker and Tony Young for SIU also. [/ QUOTE ] Falker was just terrible in the MVC tourney. |

Re: Name some good players from smaller schools for the Big Dance
Torell Martin at Winthrop comes to mind immediately.
I really like Bryan Mullins, the PG for SIU. He's not going to wow you, but he's an excellent system guard and floor leader. And like everyone else on that team, he can lock you up. I know Maynor was the star in the CAA championship game, but I was at the quarters and semis and barely noticed him. The Rams' three leading scorers are guards, and the ones that stood out over the weekend were B.A. Walker and Jesse Pellot-Rosa. Caleb Green was certainly impressive for Oral Roberts last night, as was DaShaun Wood for Wright State. I can't vouch for those guys beyond what I saw yesterday, however. -McGee |

Re: Name some good players from smaller schools for the Big Dance
Another Creighton player that not many people know about is the A-Train, Anthony Tolliver. I don't know of another player who has improved his game more over the last 4 years. When he was a frosh, he was so skinny a good gust of wind would blow him over, and he wore those dorky goggles and looked (and played) like a nerd.
Suddenly last year, he busted out and was 1st team MVC. This year he is one of the top centers in the country. He's an excellent shot blocker, has good post moves, is a very good passer, and he excels at running the high post. He can hit the 3 (although he's been told to stay down low) and when he's hitting his mid range jumper, he's an extremely difficult matchup, because he can then put it on the floor and take it to the rack. I met him at a party at the CWS last year, and he personally guaranteed me that Creighton would make the Sweet 16 this year. I told him that wasn't good enough, that they needed to make the Final 4. NCAA only:
Tyrone Lewis, frosh at Niagara, had 24 in the title win, and has a very interesting backstory that was on CNN last year. |

Re: Name some good players from smaller schools for the Big Dance
Stephen Curry at Davidson (freshman - seems to have a lot of composure) Nice team as well - should give someone fits.
Wood from Wright State was impressive as was AJ Graves for Butler. Typically guards tend to be better players at smaller schools. Big guys are usually fundamentally sound, but not capable of doing spectacular things. Bigger players also end up at larger schools due to recruiting (there have been and are some exceptions) |
