doesnt the 8 completing with three nice low cards behind him say he has something better than average hand?

I don't get the point of getting involved here.

[/ QUOTE ]
I fold 3rd, and I am generally not interested in contested pots with JJ.

The 8 is probably not completing with a pure low hand, so you may be behind for high.

unfortunately i screwed up the entire hand which really sucks.

the 4 3bet 3rd street and then when he bricked on 4th he checked. since the pot was so bloated i raised to try and get him to fold.

I like it. I would probably just fold third, but the situation here is quite nice to play this pair. You hold a 5, so if the completer doesn't have one he is going to have a fairly hard time making a straight to scoop you. On third nobody knows you have Jacks, so the 2bets may scare out someone behind you that would have happily called 1 bet with a low oriented hand.

4th literally couldn't have wound up much better. The low picked up just enough to bet his hand but not nearly enough to put us in bad shape and we have an easy raise to get it HU. I'm a little worried by the 4K calling, but it's more like disappointment really. So far the board's are plenty safe to be aggressive.

[/ QUOTE ]

What is probably four low and two spades showing doesn't scare us? I think 4th is a must-raise and 4K calling is a little confusing but I'm not sure if I love my opponent's board.

[/ QUOTE ]

I somehow thought the 82 had two offsuit cards. That said, the cards still fell about as well as we can hope for here, so I'm raising to try and get it HU.

then i like it.. i hate playing in pots against steve but i love them at the same time.. he plays very aggro (although so far he's played this relatively passive, but he does this from time to time).

when steve calls 2 cold i think you can feel safe about your hand, and Hong has to bet 4th street, so i dont really think that is way out of line, although i do think however you're going to have to dodge quite a bit here.

you have to make a decision on 5th, and it could be an expensive one.. its already very thin as it is.
