Re: Tricky QQ versus nitty EP raiser
I don't think all 4 streets are highly debateable at all, you played this hand way too soft...if you're really worried about him having AA/KK, 3-betting preflop is how you're going to find out. QQ should not be played this cautiously.

Re: Tricky QQ versus nitty EP raiser
5-handed, I'm not sure how you can eliminate AK or AQ (the 8 ways that are left) from his possible holdings. Were all of the hands those stats came from at 6-max tables?
Regardless, I can understand a call preflop to see if a dangerous card like an A or K hits the flop. Why not reraise him on the flop? (More a question for me, than a suggestion that this is the best play.) You will get immediate info about where you are if he calls and you might even get a free look at the river. If he raises, you are clearly done. |

Re: Tricky QQ versus nitty EP raiser
The more i think about it a flop raise isnt that bad. You loose value from 88/99/JJ and maybe AT. But youll never have to se an overcard, and you will have a good insight abouth where you are at. And the value you loose from above hands isnt that big of a deal.

Re: Tricky QQ versus nitty EP raiser
I reraise pf and cbet flop. I muck if he 4b preflop or c/r flop.

Re: Tricky QQ versus nitty EP raiser
Early position??? He's in the CO. Even a 7% PFR'r is raising alot more than JJ+, AK from the CO...

Re: Tricky QQ versus nitty EP raiser
monsters under the bed? I think you have to re-raise pf, he's not going to fold AQ+, or any pp. That 20% vpip shows that he is just passive, not just a super rock. AA/KK are less than 1% of hands, you have a lot of equity here. Its never good when a weak passive player is controlling the hand.
I think your thinking PF is very flawed, if you really think that smooth calling with QQ here is a good play, you need to think about it some more. I mean you just put yourself in such a tough spot, and are basically forced to put significant amounts into the pot without really knowing where you stand. |
