This is just another stupid show that equates memorizing facts as being smart.

[/ QUOTE ]

Fair enough for the impeachment one (I didn't know it either) and maybe Columbus Day, but the triangle question is far from a fact and anyone with a high school education should be able to solve it easily. And you have to be completely inept to think polar bears eat penguins - it even sounds stupid.

Thinking this is clever is what's wrong with our youth today.

Why do you think it's important for people to remember that particular equation?

Who says it's important?
I can't believe how defensive people are in this thread.

This is memorization, not intelligence...kids are forced to memorize basically useless information in all subjects. Once adults realize it's useless we forget most or all of it.

They were really playing it up how that first guy was a UCLA grad.

[/ QUOTE ]
The guy graduated from a big time university with a degree in U.S. History, and didn't know the first president to be impeached. I would hope they play it up.

I don't see how anyone could defend not knowing any of these things. I could see, maybe, how an especially absent-minded person might not know when Columbus Day is, and someone with no grasp of history might not know about the Johnson impeachment, but getting more than one of these wrong is appalling.

basically everyone who doesn't know will come and say WTF YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO KNOW THIS [censored] regardless. nobody is honest enough to say, yeah i'm dumb. then again you will probably find people who know, and say it's not important to know this stuff. it's easier to say something like that when you're right anyway.
