PROTECTION OF YOUR HAND TAKES PRECIDENCE OVER ANYTHING ELSE IN LHE. [/ QUOTE ] No, it doesn't. Value does. Also, learn to spell. |

i meant to say grunch in my previous post.
cr the flop. our postion is terrible but against and LAG and an LAP player someone's betting this hand. It can either be us or be someone else. CR the flop to see where we are. Donk the turn and see where we are. Punch the bully in the nose. |

You know the story: bet, raise, pray. Anyway, I don't mind a flop check-raise on a bet from LP in this hand. |

One of the aspects of limit hold'em is just that. It's LIMIT. You can only bet so much, so you don't have much control over the odds you're giving your opponents (though sometimes of course you do have enough, like a well placed C/R).
That is not to say anything of the tactics for this particular hand. It also certainly doesn't mean the protection is not important. But a statement like "Protection of your hand takes presidence over anything else in LHE" is inaccurate. Very inaccurate. When your opponents are drawing dead. When your hand is very weak. When the pot is too big. When rivals are showing much strength. Etc. This is not to say that you will not be playing agressively in those situations, but your motives will be different than "ZOMG, protect teh hand!" |

why didn't you check with the intention of C/Ring the LAG/LAP player? [/ QUOTE ] Because I'm a weak-tight idiot, that's why. I ran into trips just about 1307.87 times on that table and 99% of those were slowplayed. I actually ended up checking this down, idiot me. |

TWIWP, w/ 2 callers behind your going to have to assume a Q is out there.....but its really really bad to play this hand the way you did cause you have no info on the situation ahead of you. [/ QUOTE ] I'm not sure of that. One of those guys is agro. Not only would UTG most likely raise a queen here, he could probably raise with less. MP3 being loose could also have several hands that don't contain a queen including Tx, a straight draw, or maybe a lower pocket pair. I don't think leading out is a bad play since we already have some protection with the small pot. UTG/MP3 are agro preflop, so no one probably has JJ. Other than that, probably the only hand that we can fold if we get the opportunity for a good check/raise is AT. Qx/KJ/J9 aren't folding. |

turn: yes, bet fold. AGainst loose players they might just be seeing the turn with an overcard and will fold if you bet. THey'll raise if you're crushed and you can bail.

For the guys screaming about protection, the pot is 4sb. Our bet protects against lots of potential holdings that villians could have: 2pair, straights, overcards.
