Raise more on the flop for value/protection. I would grudgingly fold to the turn raise but I kinda like the idea to check behind.

Who says we're "giving up"? It's called pot control and protecting your stack. If a diamond hits and he bets big you can safely fold. If he has a K the A on the turn is going to scare him into likely folding since he knows he might have to face a big river bet as well as the turn bet he has to call. So checking behind and calling a river bet or betting when checked to is a lot better here. If the turn were a blank then I'd be apt to keep betting.

Yeah, don' be fooled into thinking the Ace isa good card for us - it isn't. It changed almost nothing except we don't get payed off soo much by hands we beat.
