Re: Forum Proposal: The Gym
Mason's been a member of www.lef.org for something like 15 years.
Why do you feel they are so wrong for this? Are you saying you believe the company is a scam, or just that the association won't click for people? |

Kyleb - if Dids and GW say no, fair enough, not Kyleb. No idea about another candidate tho.

Re: Forum Proposal: The Gym
Mat,
While the company is almost definitely legitimate, the name doesn't click for me, or others I've asked. Additionally they are alledgedly experts in "products" and "therapies." 20-35 year old white men want to 1) eat healthier 2) go to the gym/play sports/go walking/go jogging 3) take a vitamin, maybe a supplement. eat healthier: one could have any of a variety of "expert" sponsors, but honestly eh, i dno if that's necessary. 2) go to the gym/play sports/go walking/go jogging: i think that there's plenty of great companies that would be attracted by the large matching customer base between this company and theirs. mostly gyms, trainers, etc, i'm also sure that there are websites that specialize in this. 3) vitamins/supplements i think your average 20-35 year old white male maybe wants to take some random thing from GNC, or a multivitamin. i don't think they think they need aminoacid supplements in the mail. basically i think that the thing that people are going to want a company/pro advice for the most is #2, and LEF seems to only really be in to #3, which i think is what people are interested in the least. |

Now that online poker is to fund and the B&M older demographic are fully aware of 2+2's forums and less afraid to explore here I think there should be an understanding that that 2+2 wont always be the domain of the early 20's white demographic. Now a days I sit at a middle stakes table and everyone reads 2+2, even the geezers. TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |

Re: Forum Proposal: The Gym
Agree with cit again.
Having one specific retailer sponsor a forum that's going to be open to a lot of different suggestions just seems non-functional for both sides. Does that mean you can't post a link when somebody sells a product they offer for less? I think sponsorship of this type of forum is tricky. |

Re: Forum Proposal: The Gym
Our intention was not for them to sponsor, but to host. In exchange for some of their nutrition experts being active participants, we would fly lef affiliate banners in that forum. In this scenario, they wouldn't be exercising control over other's content.
I'll have Mason check out this thread and if they do get back to us and are interested, I'll be sure they address these concerns. |

Re: Forum Proposal: The Gym
fwiw, to get an idea about content distribution...
The BodyBuilding.com forum is ranked #46 on Big-Boards... 500K+ members and roughly 13 Million posts.... Excepting their Misc forum, the forum with the most posts is the Supplements forum. |
