Re: Players announce check-down
Hard to stop it. Funny as hell when these monkeys miss out on a high hand/bad beat jackpot because not enough money in the middle when they do this (I have seen this happen twice).

Re: Players announce check-down
Yeah, this is incredibly minor. Wait 'til you hear people talking about the hand in play.

I don't suspect collusion in the literal sense [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] but this still bothered me quite a bit. [/ QUOTE ] Why does this bother you if you don't feel its collusion? |

Re: Players announce check-down
Thanks for the insights everyone. Some good points brought up. I guess this is pretty common and yeah, in hindsight pretty minor. I was probably more agitated about it because I was getting sucked out on repeatedly by these two and ended up with a losing night (ahh the truth comes out).
Thanks again. I'll get myself a doctor's note for some nit-pills tomorrow. Heh. |

I would think as obsessed as everyone is with the jackpot in rooms that offer it, they'd bet up to the minimum and then check it down. But of course they couldn't decided to do so at the table without invalidating the jackpot. |

It's important that you learn to smile at the suckouts. Legitimately enjoy them. Would you rather a good player have your chips or a fish? People will check down with others who aren't their buds, either, and you may find yourself in a situation where you have the opportunity to check down with a losing hand. Regardless, you get to watch idiots sacrificing value left and right. Be nice to others at the table. Be happy when the fish beat you. Not only does it prevent you from tilting, it makes the fish even more likely to dump your chips back to you with substantial interest. Whatever you do, don't tap the aquarium. |

Re: Players announce check-down
Most of the "jackpot nits" know enough to "nod-nod-wink-wink" to check it down. Then, if one bets, it is only with a JP qualifier. Same with chopping the blinds. If SB wakes up with say QQ, he makes motion to call. If BB has something too, they go on and just check it down unless something developes. If he has garbage, it's "Don't you chop?" and the QQ agrees to chop.

Say you try to steal the blinds quite often from the Button. But you chop when you are the BB. What do you think the guy whose Big Blind you raise all the time thinks? [/ QUOTE ] He thinks, 'I shoulda raised that pricks blind!' It's funny to me when people take not getting a free play in the blind so personal. People also hate sitting on my left. b |

Re: Players announce check-down
Kinda funny. Just happened tonight.
UTG raises, UTG1 3 bets. Both solid players. Both buds. Everyone folds. Flop KQx They check it down. UTG had QQ, UTG1 had KK. Nice that KK was able to stack all those chips rather quickly. b |
