Re: Overpair on the Turn vs TAG
The flop 3-bet is usually bad, and the turn laydown is usually OK.

Re: Overpair on the Turn vs TAG
I don't think you can fold the turn getting around 12 to 1 to call. CO plays enough worse hands this way that it can be worth it to call the turn and check/fold the river UI. CO will raise here with some worse pocket pairs to take a free showdown and fold out UTG.

Re: Overpair on the Turn vs TAG
what exactly makes the flop 3-bet bad or in other words: what are the benefits of not 3-betting but just calling the flop?

*grunch*
After you get 3 bet preflop, I'm just calling down from there. |

Re: Overpair on the Turn vs TAG
does somebody checkraise the flop here? Why would you do it and why not?

Re: Overpair on the Turn vs TAG
The flop bet is usually bad because you usually donīt have the best hand here and your 3-bet is only for value since you obviously ainīt going to get a fold from the other players. If you have a good read on UTG that he is a complete idiot then maybe the 3-bet is good.
But if we do an analysis we find ourselves in a hand with UTG that has cold called two bets twice. We have CO that reraised you preflop and then thinks that it is a good move to reraise you on flop when you donk him despite him reraising preflop. Add the possibility that there are several overcards to come on turn and river plus a flush draw and I donīt think you have enough equity to put more bets into the pot on flop. If you want to put in more bets I would prefer to do it on a blank turn since you have better pot equity then and I do think another raise on turn from CO tells you that youīre screwed. |
