two major things

1. Offense is much more efficient, leading to much easier defense
2. Nash gets everyone involved, when bigs are involved on the offensive end they almost always play better defense.

You are right DC, this forum is full of idiots. Nash is not a good 1 on 1 defender but that often doesn't matter, he is just fine as a team defender. But the stats you brought up aren't really cause of Nash's 1 on 1 D.

Marion is the best perimeter defender, KT is the best post defender.

Maybe the Opponent FG% is higher when he is out because the majority of the minutes he has played in this season are with Thomas, Bell, Marion, out there with him. Usually when Nash is out, a good combo of those 3 are usually out as well because their all first team players. Also, during several games this year Phoenix has had big leads and played several final minutes with backups out there.

Dude..we've been over this. You're making it up.

Dude, you suckered me....

Clippers-Suns tonight, 2nd quarter. Nash takes a charge from Elton Brand. Doug Collins says "Nash is one of the league leaders in taking charges".

Nash is 6th in the league, despite missing 6 games.

Now apologize...

Of course just as I sit down after writing that Nash takes another against Livingston. Nash is up to 39 now and would probably be around 43 (4th) if he hadn't missed 6 games.

Note that Phoenix is the league leader in drawing charges. Maybe having their best (ahead of Raja on a per game basis) guy at drawing charges out really did affect their field goal defense?

If you actually think Nash is better at drawing charges than Bell you don't understand statistics or you are extremely biased.

Cat,

"Suns", not "Sun's".

Also, I'm not sure there's a direct correlation between charges taken and defensive ability - if there was Danny Ainge and Manu Ginobili would be in the same conversation with the likes of Alvin Robertson and Gary Payton. That said, Nash haters incessant harping on his "lack of D" does get kinda old, even if it has some basis in fact.

Also the big hoopla of your Nash charges thing was you saying he draws over 2 charges a game. Then someone pointed out that last year he averaged less than half a drawn charge a game.
