My accountant told me today that if the site never sent me a 1099, then I shouldn't even bother paying income taxes. This was coming from professionalized accountants who knew NOTHING about ONLINE POKER. They said the most likely cause of me not recieving a 1099 is because the sites are probably illegal. They said if you win money gambling at horsetracks or in vegas, you receive 1099's. What is everyone's thoughts?

Get it in writing, get a guarantee that he/his company will cover your fines ect if they make a mistake on your taxes and go for it.
1. Shift liability
2. ?
3. Profit!

Fire whoever your accountant is. How could you even begin to think this is OK? This is like a step up from "if I didn't get caught it wasn't wrong" logic. Also by his logic no one who is self employed would have to pay taxes because they don't get forms from anyone. Sheer genius of an accountant.

You guys do realize if you get audited they will look at your bank account and will do the math on your neteller EFTs and they do know how to add in the IRS.

Whilst i know virtually nothing about US tax rules, i am sure that Al Capone was jailed for tax evasion, presumably on his illegal dealings (rather than his semi illegal dealing like online poker).

Get an accountant who doesnt advertise using flyers at your local supermarket notice board.
