Find an image of a completely white screen put it on for about 15 mins and your good. But you should never leave a paused video game or DVD on the TV. Just turn the TV off if you want to take a break but leave your console on.

I'd been told it wasn't really a big deal anymore and it was only an hour so I figured it would be fine. On the plus side, it seems to have faded completely now and looks fine. Unfortunately I'll now be ridiculously paranoid about this for the rest of my life.

a) go into the wii menu and u can turn on 'burn-in reduction' mode...this woulda helped u out

b) hook up your laptop to your plasma with a white screensaver so it just displays white for a while

it also may very well go away in a day or two on its own

I just sat at my desk staring at this sentence and chuckling for a good 45 seconds. Takes a big man to admit this.

Newer Plasma TVs are pretty good considering burns compared to back in the day. For a perminent burn you basically need to leave the same image on the screen for 20+ hours (which would make you an idiot). Put your tv on a channel where you get the "snow" instead of program (you know those grey spots that go all over the screen and make that crappy noise when you put it on a channel you dont have). Leave it on this channel for 15 minutes or so and it should easily take care of your burn-in, unless it is excessive in which case just leave it on for an hour. Oh, and you could have gotton a product service plan from best buy with your tv, which would have covered any perminent burn in as well as many other possible problems.

Brag: I word for best buy
Beat: I work for best buy

Of course they told me this, hell I tell this to people buying tv's, though it seems to go against the plan not covering negligence....

Steve,

I have the same television. I'm pretty sure if you watch something else for, say, 3 seconds, the burn in will be gone (although admittedly I don't play video games on it). The first time I went to a blank screen to put a DVD in, I'd been watching Casino/gaming television for a couple of hours and I thought the logo was burned into the screen and I freaked. Then I realized it wasn't burned in when I watched something else. It's like it remembers the last thing that's on the screen when you turn to a blank screen. It's likely not a problem.
