they have skiing in new england? must be a thrill.

[/ QUOTE ]

we sure do!

in fact Stowe and Jay tomorrow will be as good as any resort in America.

Jay Peak and Stowe season snowfall: 197 inches

Squaw: 174
Vail: 191
Alta: 213

neither Stowe nor Jay have 30 foot cliffs or miles of bowls, but both have tree skiing that is 95% as nasty as anything you can find at Alta or around Tahoe. that is, if you know where to look.

[/ QUOTE ]
Whistler: 391

No comparison.

Whistler is having a great year from what I understand. also a lot of rain though.

I did hit Stowe yesterday, and it was ridiculous. almost too much snow in some places.

we did some hiking OOB (for those that know Stowe, we hiked up to ski 'upper bypass'. this is at the top of the quad), and hit some areas untracked areas with 4 new feet. it's borderline dangerous, b/c if you fall you can drown from the snow, and it's also extremely easy to lose skis and/or put them back on.

there were some great line and some really steep stuff. at one point we almost had to dismount b/c we were stuck above a huge frozen waterfall going into a 3 foot wide frozen chute. we all ended up sliding down which was dangerous by itself.

if you are on the quad and look right above the normal Bypass glades, you'll be able to see some cleared out areas, which is where this waterfall is. ridiculous terrain, as nasty as anything you'll find anywhere.
