How about Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough by Michael Jackson? [/ QUOTE ] Too funny, I have that on my MP3 player and am listening to it right now. It's a very catchy tune. Other ones I have on my small playlist that I can't kick to the curb, regardless of genre: "Battleflag", Lo Fidelity All-Stars - a great techno/rave song "Southern Cross", Crosby/Stills/Nash/Young(?) - beautiful track "Obladi Oblada", possibly my favorite Beatles song, so awesome, upbeat, and short "Days Go By", Dirty Vegas - great song to chill to, particularly the 8 minute extended mix "Wake Me Up When September Comes", Green Day - this song builds to an awesome crescendo "Times Like These", Foo Fighters - although I love a lot of their stuff, this song just rocks harder and resonates with me more than anything |

Re: Instant Classics
daryn,
Good tune.. but I'll take Uptight over that any day (Hey Love, too.. but Uptight should make anyone shake their ass). suz, Can't agree enough with Sex Machine. Funny you mention a pool hall. I always picked that song when I was shooting pool in high school. Unfortunately, I think wonderwall kind of sucks.. bad. Hey Ya: got played out, but was easily the best dance tune of the decade. That got the room jumping at every party I've been to. My choice: Tears of a Clown - Smokey Robinson "Now if there's a smile on my face.. it's only there tryin' to fool the public".. so awesome. |

Re: Instant Classics
tuq, absolutely crazy you mention Dirty Vegas and Lo Fidelity All Stars. When I first learned computer programming, or really learned it I should say, those two albums, along with Fat Boy Slim, Death in Vegas, Bran Van 3000 and some others were on my heavy rotation. I used to go into this hyper-focus zone where I would program for like 15 hours and it would feel like 15 minutes. I would listen to the same album 2 or 3 times because it was too much distraction to change the CD. Alos good call on When September Ends. Also Jesus of Suburbia might get a nod.
kidcolin, Tears of a Clown, possibly best lyrics ever. Also I'll Be Loving You ALways and Supersition are awesome Stevie songs IMO. |

Re: Instant Classics
Suzzer,
Good thread idea. I love the James Brown, the RHCP and Stevie Wonder but Third Eye Blind? An instant classic? Trancending their genre? Come on. Don't see the bushmen jamming to that. |

I think we've done albums pretty well in the past. Also although it's not on Back in Black, I would offer It's a Long Way to the Top (if You Wanna Rock n Roll). You can't beat the bagpipes. |
